How do I create the products of my eCommerce?

Products are all those things that you desire to sell and/or share with the user, which have a price and that, if stock allows it, can be purchased in the eCommerce.

Products

With a right-click on the mouse, click on the category background and select New product. This action has a 3-step assistant:

In Basic settings we have the basic settings that later will be seen in the FrontOffice. The fields Base Price and Name cannot be left blank.

  • In Images we see the graphic visualization, whose measurements and resolution are really important for the later visualization in the FrontOffice. The image can be uploaded searching in the archive manager or just dragging the image, because the program will re-size it to the needed sizes.

  • SEO section includes the fields to help to the positioning of the website on the internet. There is the possibility to choose between Automatic SEO, Manual SEO or Disable SEO. The Automatic SEO option generates the Title and the URL SEO, taking the name of the product as a reference. For the rest of the fields it uses the defined values in the general configuration. The Manual SEO option fills in the same fields than the automatic option by default, but sets up all the fields so that they can be edited or completed at that moment.

How does a product can be edit?

Doing right-click on the mouse or doing double click on a product, it can be edited. Product editing includes all these functions:

  • Labels: The product can have personalized or specific additional labels. For example, if we are selling a mobile phone we can create labels for the screen sizes, the processor, the operating system, the phone sizes, the duration of the battery, etc. These characteristics can, in case it is needed, be shown in the product card as an icon or a description, and can be used to establish advanced filters that help clients find products with certain characteristics in a more precise way.
  • Categories: The product will be visible in all the categories we define here, provided that the category is activated. The characteristic of Main category can only be active in one of them and means that this is the natural or primary category of a particular product.

It is important to establish the main category correctly. In the BackOffice there are lots of functions, like promotions, that, in case it is necessary, can be applied in a selective way only in one determined combination of categories. If a product is visible in more than one category, to avoid ambiguities or contradictions, the system will always apply the functions to the products that have the determined category in the function as the main category.

In the catalog, when a product is seen out of its main category, we see an arrow in its miniature or icon.

  • SEO: This window allows the modification of the SEO fields and customization to that particular product. The fields defined here will substitute the SEO definitions in the general configuration.
  • Options :This window allows the creation of options or variations that a product can have, in order that what the user takes to the basket is a certain option or combination of options. For example, if we are speaking of a shirt, we could create size options (with S, M, and L values, for example) and colour options (with White, Black, Blue and Green, for example), so that the user can chose his size and the colour he likes the most and so that, at the end, he puts in his basket a certain combination of size and colour, for example, a blue L size.

It is possible to do that the final price of the product increases when we chose certain values of an option. To continue with the last example, it would be possible to make that if someone chose the L size the price of the shirt went up a certain amount of money.

  • Pricing policies: Different prices can be defined to establish different prices of the same product depending on the final user (B2B or B2C)..
  • Customization: Different configurations of a product can be applied when the established condition in the definition is achieved. This will make that a combination of users (established in the definition) sees certain aspects of the product in a certain way, different of the usual aspects.
  • Comments: If the comment option is activated in the FrontOffice, users can leave comments related to this product and here we will manage if we want them to be published or not.

From Main > Product comments, we have a general view of all the comments.

  • Stock: Here we introduce the number of available units in the corresponding warehouse. If stock affects options, it has to be introduced according to the option or combination of options. Again with the shirt example, if both the size and the colour are linked to the stock, we have to create 3 x 4 = 12 fields of stock, in this way:

  • Related items:It is possible to link different items to this product, which later will be seen in the FrontOffice in a certain position of the page.
  • Taxonomies: This process allows, in case it is necessary, to associate categories from the main marketplace gateways with this product. By this we get to categorize this product with the same taxonomy as the gateway so that it is correctly classified in it.

Usually, the relation of the marketplace taxonomy is established at a category level, but in certain circumstances it is necessary to do it at a product level.
